Pricing

The software is free and open source, and it always will be. You pay us only if you want us to run the server instead of running it yourself.

Vault is in beta, and free while it is. It is going through thorough code review and security review for production readiness. Billing does not begin until those are complete and Vault leaves beta, so the prices below are what the plans will cost then — not something you are charged today.

No charge

Two ways to pay nothing

Both apply to every product, both are available right now, and neither is a trial.

Prices in USD. Annual billing works out to two months free. Vault is the only product with cloud features today, and it prices them on its own site; the rest are still in development, and they join Entropy Pro as they land.

Self-hosting is free, and it is not a lesser version

The same server we run is the one you can run.

Run it however you like

A single server binary for Linux, macOS, and Windows, or the container image — Docker, Compose, Kubernetes, Unraid, TrueNAS, Proxmox. Database backend of your choice.

Every cloud feature

Sync, encrypted backup, and multi-device access are all in the free server. Nothing is held back for the paid tier, and there is no licence key to check.

No seat count

Run it for yourself, your family, or your company. We do not count your users, and the server never phones home.

Questions

What does the free tier actually give me?

The whole app on your device, with your data stored locally. Unlimited logins, two-factor codes, notes, secrets, the generator, breach checking, and passkey unlock. What it does not do is sync between your devices, keep a backup for you, or send anything by link — all three need a server, whether it is ours or yours.

Why does Send need a server?

Because the person you are sending to has to fetch it from somewhere. The link points at a server that holds the encrypted blob until it is collected or expires, so there is nothing for a local-only install to point at. Self-host and you get Send for free, same as the hosted plans.

So the paid plan is only for hosting?

Yes. You are paying us to run and back up the server, not to unlock features. Self-host and you get the identical feature set for nothing.

Can you read my vault?

No. Everything is encrypted on your device before it reaches us, and the key is derived from your master password, which we never receive. The server only ever stores scrambled data.

When does billing actually start?

Vault is in a beta period and is actively undergoing thorough code review and security review for production readiness. Until those are complete and Vault is out of beta, billing does not take effect — the product is free to try until then. We would rather publish the prices now than surprise you with them later.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

It stays yours. Export it at any time, or point the apps at your own server. There is no lock-in, because the format and the server are both open source.

Is Entropy Pro worth it for one product?

Not yet, honestly. Vault is the only product with cloud features today, so Personal or Group is the better buy. The Pro plans make sense once Simple Finance and the others land — and if you are already on one, they are included when they do.

We have more than five people. What then?

That is what Enterprise is for. Tell us roughly how many people you need to cover and we will quote you on headcount, with one invoice for the organization. If you would rather run it yourself, we will help you set that up instead — self-hosting has no seat count and costs nothing.

Vault is live today
